If you want to discover Spain’s best kept secret, then this is
the place to come..!
This area of Andalucia in southern Spain is totally unspoilt by
the onset of tourism. There are charming white washed villages
and fabulous beaches. The Huelva la Luz area is unlike other
tourist regions and the developments are less saturated than
those usually associated with Spain. It has been developed on a
more environmentally friendly scale than many of the other
Costas. The culture and the character of the Spanish is evident
from flamenco bars to wonderful candle lit restaurants - life
can as energetic or laid back as you want it to be.

Beaches
Beaches along the Costa de la Luz are generally long, sandy and
backed by dunes and pine woods. and are some of the best in
Spain. The sand dunes are teeming with wild flowers and bordered
by shady pine and eucalyptus trees, they stretch for miles
without a single high rise block to blight the horizon. The
weather along this coastal region can be very hot in summer with
gentle sea breezes to help keep the temperature more comfortable
and even in the winter the weather is usually mild. Costa de la
Luz boasts an average of 320 days of sunshine a year and the
temperature rarely drops below 17° C.
Activities
For the more energetic there are a variety of water sports to be
found locally. There are water parks and go-kart tracks, horse
riding, cycling and tennis. You could take a scenic river tour
along the Guadiana River or a boat trip along the coast. From
Ayamonte you can hop on the local ferry (even with your car) and
take the 10 minute ride across the river to Portugal. Don't forget to turn your watch back an hour though!
History
For those with an eye to the past Huelva is the city that
Christopher Columbus set sail from in 1492 on his history making
adventure to the New World. There are many references to him in
and around the city with many roads and buildings bearing his
name – Colon in Spanish.
Golf
This area of Spain is becoming renowned for the quality of its
golf courses. There are numerous golf courses all within a short
drive not to mention the ones across the border in Portugal. There are many courses to choose from including championship
ones and those that are less challenging. Purple Parrot Group
can arrange rounds of golf in both Spain and Portugal. It is
possible to play in one country in the morning and in the other
the same afternoon!
